Description |
Remarkable features of gas electron multipliers (GEM) make them attractive for numerous applications in high-energy physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, and the medical-imaging field. This talk presents the results of research and development of GEM-based radiation detectors at BINP, Novosibirsk. These studies include the GEM operation in pure noble gases at high pressures and cryogenic temperatures, as well as in two-phase (gas-liquid) mode. First results on development of GEM-based gas photo-detectors at cryogenic temperatures will be discussed. |
